Since we began twenty years ago, we have had only one goal, which we have fulfilled. That goal was to produce something that would enable people to create cozy environments in their homes - to create their own world with our products!
Nedholm began with the idea of changing people's understanding of interior design and decoration. We hoped to create and promote an eco-friendly outlook about how to make your home, office, bedroom, or kitchen "your own". We have fulfilled this goal and our ideas are developing and spreading.
Today, our catalogue contains more than 300 different natural products, the majority of which are made of birch and custom-finished with colourful natural stains based on the client's wishes. A new chapter has now been added to our catalogue - textiles, which provide additional decorating possibilities for your home.
Nedholm's main principle can be summarised in one word -- "colourful"! We use the entire spectrum of natural colours in our products to enable our clients to add colour and spice to their homes.
Nedholm is located in Haapsalu, a beautiful coastal town in Estonia, which has strong ties to Scandinavia. From 13th-century conquests to the onset of World War II, a large Swedish community lived in West-Estonia, which has left a strong mark on the local culture, life, and environment. Ilon Wikland, the illustrator of Astrid Lindgren's books, was born in Haapsalu, and when one walks around the town, it is not difficult to imagine the famous Pipi Longstocking jumping out from behind some corner or that Kalle Blomquist is keeping his eye on the town.
Nedholm, which began in the Coastal town in 1993, continues to convey these same Scandinavian values in its designs, products, and ideology. Since the beginning, we have co-operated with the famous Swedish designer, Marie Gustafsson. "For me, the designs of Scandinavia, or the Nordic countries, are defined by simplicity, functionality, elegance, and even humor. A designer is successful when he or she can combine practically with form and appearance in the best possible way." This quote from designer Marie Gustafsson summarises the nature of Nedholm's products and the idea that is conveyed by our products.
And Marie is right. Our designs are simple, functional, elegant, and most importantly, amusing and colourful, like a sunny day from our childhood. We are an Eco-Friendly Nordic Woodworking Factory.
